Many years ago, Jean-Claude Gaugy, artist, established his summer studio in an abandoned high school on top of a mountain meadow
in West Virginia. Because the building had been abandoned for a long time, roofs leaked and ceilings were rotted. One part of
the building was an old barrel-roof gymnasium, complete with basketball court and stage. Gaugy determined that instead of merely
making repairs, he would replace the ceiling of the gymnasium with art in his distinctive style and signature medium of paintings
carved into wood.
