The ceiling nears completion in the original space

Next came the massive ceiling area - an arched expanse measuring 55 by 65 feet. In the center Gaugy carved an expanding medallion shape of overlapping, moving, light and color-filled forms, feeling this best symbolized the inexpressible power and creativity of God, without reference to any specific institutionalized religious belief. He surrounded this center with immense, elongated figures, reaching, praying, filled with awe. Complex and powerful imagery followed on the huge walls. By the time Gaugy was finished, thirteen years after those early doors, he had carved and painted almost 8000 square feet of surface area, using 400 panels of wood.
